Timetable of a Bankruptcy Filing
February 17th, 2010 by admin
If you filed a Chapter 7 bankruptcy case today, you should be ready to wait about six months to get your discharge. Here is some of the things that happen during your bankruptcy filing. First of all, you file your bankruptcy petition with the court. Next, a trustee is assigned to your case for review. After that the bankruptcy court mails a bankruptcy notice to each of your creditors you listed in your petition. Now you’ll need to attend the 341 meeting of the creditors. After you attend the meeting a trustee decides whether there is any property to distribute. If there is no property, about four months later you hear discharge from the court in the mail.
