Prepaid Credit Cards Instead of Debt?

Two years ago my husband and I lost our jobs at the same time. Within a month we were both working, but making much less money. However, we could no longer pay the minimum payments on our credit cards. We made a budget, worked hard, and paid off the cards. As soon as the the last check went out, we bought two prepaid credit cards. The small fees associated with using them are more than worth it for the peace of mind we get knowing we are not incurring debt. The cards let us reload and spend exactly what we have budgeted. There is even money in savings now.
