Police used a reverse email search

While was getting a few of my documents verified at a local police station, I overheard a conversation from two police officers that were on duty at the time. They were saying that their superior officer was running an investigation where he had to trace a culprit using an email address that a victim had once received from a perpetrator. He used the Reverse Email Search for any last known locations and he came up with a whole list of info that he was then able to trace the culprit down. The suspect was apprehended not far the station and is apparently due for sentencing in a week.
